Work Shift Configuration
Description, Purpose and Objective
NOTE
The Shift Configuration (or Shifts) view is the administrative module in charge of delimiting and structuring the work schedules of the organization's technical staff to correlate analytical quality with the time of day and the operator in charge of the instrument.
A Work Shift in the system represents a work day defined by:
- Name: Name of the shift (e.g. Morning Shift, Night Shift).
- Entry time: Time the shift starts.
- Departure time: Time at which the analytical day ends.
The objective of this view is to record the distribution of the personnel's operating time, allowing the platform to automatically identify in which shift the quality controls were reported to issue traceability reports organized by time slots and operators.
Context of Use
This panel is operated by analytical coordinators and directors to:
- Record the schedule: Enter the laboratory shifts for purposes of assigning responsibilities.
- Control time overlaps: Prevent two shifts from being configured that coincide in the same time range (the system will automatically block overlapping schedules).
- Analyze analytical performance by shift: Filter reports and Levey-Jennings graphs by time slots to audit whether analytical derivations are concentrated in a specific shift (e.g. due to environmental thermal variations, operational fatigue or lack of homogenization of controls in night slots).
Possible Actions
1. Consult and Search Shifts
Displays a table with the catalog of shifts configured in the organization: Name, Start time, End time and Registration date. The search engine instantly filters by the shift name.

2. Create a Work Shift
- Click "Add shift" in the upper right corner.
- The form will be displayed in the side panel:
- Name: Enter the descriptive name of the shift (e.g. Afternoon Shift).
- Entry time: Indicate the start time of the analytical day with the clock.
- Departure time: Please indicate the end time.
- Click "Add" to save.
WARNING
Overlapping Schedule Rule: If the entry or exit times of the new shift coincide with any schedule already saved in the organization, the system will display an Overlapping Shift warning and will block the creation of the record until you correct the hours.

3. Edit a Shift
- Click "Edit" (pencil icon ✏️) in the shift row.
- Modify the name or times in the side panel.
- Click "Update" to apply the changes to the organization.
IMPORTANT
If the shift has already been used to classify historical quality control results or schedules, the system could restrict its time editing to safeguard the integrity of previous statistical reports.
4. Delete a Shift
- Click "Delete" (trash icon 🗑️).
- Confirm in the pop-up security dialog. The system will perform a logical deletion of the shift (
deleted: true).
5. Export Shift Catalog
Click the download button in the table header to download the workdays and schedules in a .CSV file.
Required Technical Permits
Shift management is subject to the following permissions:
